In this webinar, Assistance Dogs Australia (ADA) CEO Tim Taylor shared how they experienced this firsthand. By shifting their focus from outputs to outcomes, for example moving from “how many dogs placed” to “how many lives changed”, the organisation reshaped how it defines success, focusing on measurable improvements in independence, wellbeing and social inclusion for people with disability.
Developing a clear problem statement and theory of change helped anchor ADA’s strategy and align leadership around shared outcomes. Partnerships, including with Happy Paws Happy Hearts, have also helped multiply impact by supporting more people throughout the dog training journey.
By activating their impact measurement through a live Seer Data Dashboard, ADA is able to clearly demonstrate the real-world outcomes of their work – not just activity, but measurable change in people’s lives. This transparency has made it far easier to communicate a compelling vision to supporters, including their bold goal of helping 10,000 people in 10 years. As a result, donors can clearly see the impact their contributions would enable.
This shift in how ADA articulated and shared its impact played a direct role in securing a recent multi-six-figure donation, while the live Dashboard continues to make these outcomes visible and accessible to staff, board, funders and the wider community.
