Data & AI for Place-Based Impact.

Creating a common language for measuring and demonstrating meaningful local change.
Seer Data exists to turn data into action that strengthens lives and communities. We believe data and AI can be a powerful force for good – when they are trusted, governed, and accessible. Our work helps communities, governments, and organisations see what’s working, understand why and act with confidence.
Seer Communities is data platform supporting Place-based and community-led initiatives, enabling local outcomes to be understood and strengthened.

Community Data Workforce Training Modules
Better decisions start with better understanding. In place-based work, that understanding has to be shared, trusted and grounded in the realities that only communities know best. The Community Data Workforce Training Modules are a new training program we’ve developed in partnership with Partnerships for Local Action & Community Empowerment (PLACE). The training was originally developed for our partner, Humans of Purpose Academy (HoPA), supporting women to build economic security by training in community data skills.
The training looks beyond systems and tools to what really sustains change: learning culture, leadership, shared measurement, storytelling and local authority.
The training program will be made freely available by PLACE on 1 July.
Top 5 Actions for NFPs Holding Indigenous Data
Working with Indigenous data carries responsibility. This practical guide, developed with Land on Heart Foundation, outlines five essential actions to help not-for-profits strengthen their data practices – grounded in consent, community authority and Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles.
From understanding what data you hold, to ensuring it delivers real benefit back to community, the guide provides clear, actionable steps to build trust, improve governance and move from data collection to meaningful impact.
Indigenous Data Sovereignty & Governance Training Program
This project addresses the urgent demand for culturally safe, free, and on-demand training that supports building digital and data capability by understanding Indigenous Data Sovereignty. Historically, deficit-based data has portrayed Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples through disadvantage, reinforcing systemic inequities. Today, communities are calling for tools to reclaim data as a foundation for self-determination.
Led by Land on Heart Foundation, in partnership with Seer Data and the Australian Indigenous Governance Institute, this nine-module training program will be delivered via a nationwide online Learning Management System.
The 10 Voluntary AI Safety Guardrails In Plain Language for Not-for-profits
Australia has introduced the Voluntary AI Safety Standard, published by the National Artificial Intelligence Centre guiding safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence in Australia. To support organisations navigating this shift, we’ve translated Australia’s 10 Voluntary AI Safety Guardrails into practical, plain-language guidance for the sector.
The guide provides a clear, accessible overview of how these guardrails apply to the real-world operating environments of not-for-profits and social enterprises.
Data Maturity Model
For many organisations, measuring impact is a crucial but challenging task. While there is often a clear vision for using data and evidence to inform decision-making, turning that vision into actionable insights to measure and evidence impact can be overwhelming. Seer Data & Analytics has developed a Data & Evidence Maturity Model to guide organisations through this journey, providing a structured framework to help you progress from ambition to data-informed learning, evaluation and impact reporting.
Indigenous Data Sovereignty
Data for Truth Telling: NSW Stolen Generations Organisations Data Sovereignty & Governance

The Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation, Coota Girls and Bomaderry Aboriginal Children’s Home Data and Storytelling Platforms provide a practical example of how data systems can be designed to centre Indigenous governance, flexibility, and self-determination, rather than deficit-based reporting or externally imposed control.
These platforms support Stolen Generations Organisations to own, collect, manage, analyse and tell their own data and stories in ways that align with healing, truth-telling, and program initiatives for Stolen Generation survivors and descendants.
Truth telling by Aboriginal people impacted by government forced removal of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children from their families is central to this project.
