Dashboard Edit Locking: Your Guide to Seamless Collaboration
The Seer Data platform now includes Dashboard Edit Locking – a feature designed to prevent those frustrating moments when your hard work gets overwritten or interrupted by another user also making changes. Let’s dive into how this feature works and how it can enhance your workflow.
Details
- Automatic Locking: As soon as you start editing your dashboard, a lock is applied automatically.
- Release Mechanisms: This lock stays in place until you cancel, save, or close your dashboard.
- Idle Detection: If you become idle (leave your device without any mouse movements), a timer kicks in. The lock will remain for an additional 10 minutes of inactivity before being released.
- Extended Lock: If no one else is editing your dashboard or has made changes since your lock was released, your lock will be extended.
- Edit Button Disabled: The ‘Edit’ button will be disabled for other users until the lock is released.
Benefits
- Prevents Overwrites: It stops others from overwriting your changes, protecting your work.
- Protects Workflow: It ensures your editing session isn’t interrupted by others, allowing you to work without unnecessary disruptions.
- Lock Notification: Other users with edit access will see a banner informing them of the lock.
- User Identification: If the editor is part of the same or a partner organization, the banner will display the name of the person currently editing.
